Where legal expertise meets linguistic precision
Professional Profile
I am an independent, court-certified interpreter and translator specializing in legal and business interpreting and translation for the German–English language pair.
I studied law and finance in the United States and was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1998. I am also admitted to practice law in the United States.
In addition to my interpreting and translation practice, I am responsible for the training and education of prospective court interpreters and translators in accordance with the German Court Interpreters Act [Gerichtsdolmetschergesetz] at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. Graduates of the program go on to work for institutions such as the European Union, the Deutsche Bundesbank, the Federal Intelligence Service [Bundesnachrichtendienst], and the German Armed Forces Language Service [Bundessprachenamt].
Previously, I served as an associate lecturer at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and provided educational support to the Hamburg State Bureau of Criminal Investigation [Landeskriminalamt Hamburg].
Earlier in my career, before completing a postgraduate program in Interpreting and Translating for Courts and Government Agencies at the University of Hamburg, I worked in law and accounting. I was employed by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office and later I was a civil practitioner, focusing on commercial law, tax law, and legal due diligence. In the business sector, I worked as a transactional and financial analyst at PricewaterhouseCoopers before becoming a court-certified interpreter and translator.
